H's Story

"H" arrived with her 4 children in 2014 from Palestine. She fled as her husband was arrested and killed by the Israeli army.

We at The Destitution Project helped H. and her children with food parcels when her money had stopped from Home office, befriened her, made school and college applications, overcame her housing problems and GP registration.

After struggling for three years with the asylum system whilst not speaking any English she and her children were finally granted leave to remain.

H. now speaks good English, her daughter and son are settled in school. Her eldest daughter is now working as an apprentice for the BBC in Manchester and her eldest son is now at university.
